Chuck Finley carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Tim Salmon hit one
over the fence and had 2 RBI to account for all of the Angels runs at Edison Int'l Field where the Anaheim Angels beat the Cleveland Indians by the score of 2 to 1.

Finley(1-0) had a strong outing. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and 1 walk
in 7 innings. The left-handed Finley lost his chance for a no-hitter when
Kenny Lofton singled with one out in the 6th inning. Cleveland made it
exciting in the 9th as Manny Ramirez cut the lead in half with a homerun, but they were unable to dent the lead any further as Troy Percival slammed the door shut.

Percival recorded his 1st save. Addie Joss(0-1) was the loser. Lou
Boudreau was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
