Third baseman Wade Boggs had 2 base hits at Fenway Park as the Boston Red Sox
beat the Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 3 to 2.

After Toronto plated single runs in the second and third on RBI hits by John Olerud and George Bell, Nomar Garciaparra got the Sox even in the bottom of the third, blasting a two run homerun over the Green Monster in left. In the bottom of the 6th inning Boston went on top for good, plating an
isolated run on Dwight Evans' RBI double. Boston managed only 6 hits on the night.

The win went to Cy Young(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Young
got help from Dick Radatz who was credited with his 1st save. It was Radatz who extricated the Sox out of an 8th inning jam by retiring Jesse Barfield and Carlos Delgado with two men on after relieving Young. Roy
Halladay(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings giving
up 6 hits and 3 walks.
