Dickie Thon went yard at Minute Maid Field where the Houston Astros beat the
St. Louis Cardinals in 11 innings by the score of 2 to 1.

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings. Houston won it in the 11th
inning. With one out, Thon smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' giving Houston the win much to the delight of the home town crowd of 39,504. Houston finished with 10 hits while St. Louis ended up with 6.

The win went to Brad Lidge(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Lindy
McDaniel(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
