Larry Walker smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Coors Field as the Colorado
Rockies beat the Chicago Cubs 11 to 6.

Walker provided much of the offense. He stroked a single in the 1st inning,
hit a bases-empty home run in the 7th inning and popped a two-run clout over
the fence in the 8th inning. Chicago threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.

Kevin Ritz(1-0) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Three
Finger Brown(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 4 runs in 2
innings of work. The Cub bullpen was horrid, allowing a total of 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits (2 homers) in just 3 innings.

"It's a disheartening loss, no question about it" said Dusty Baker. "Trying to pitch in this park reminds me of a day at Wrigley when the wind is blowing out. But we
have to get over it and get ready for the next game".
