Fred Lynn hit 3 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox topped the Toronto
Blue Jays by a score of 9 to 4 at Fenway Park.

Boston took the lead for good in the bottom of the 2nd inning plating an
isolated run utilizing 3 base hits. Dwight Evans doubled. Carl Yastrzemski
stepped up to the plate and he lined a base-hit. Jim Rice got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Lynn followed and he doubled. Boston had 15
hits overall, while Toronto had 6.

The victory went to Roger Clemens(1-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, losing his bid for a shutout when George Bell hit one over the Green Monster to start the eighth. Jimmy Key(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 7 runs on 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
