Carl Yastrzemski launched 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Boston Red Sox beat the Anaheim Angels by a score of 11 to 4.

Yaz enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled resulting in a run
in the 1st inning, belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 4th inning. Boston had 16 hits for the night while Anaheim had 11.

The win went to Jim Lonborg(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. John Lackey(0-1) ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.

"Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today" Yastrzemski said after the game. "Despite that, I'm happy with the results!" Skipper Terry Francona added, "When Yaz gets going like this, we just get on his back and let him carry us like he did in '67".
