At Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Don
Drysdale(1-0) finally bested his San Diego opposite, Dave Roberts(0-1), by
the score of 3 to 1.

San Diego was unable to claim the lead after Los Angeles went ahead in the
bottom of the 4th inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits by Babe Herman and Gil Hodges. Duke Snider followed with a sacrifice fly. Los Angeles and San Diego each finished the night with 7 hits.

Eric Gagne was credited with his 1st save as he struck out the side in the 9th. Roberts took the loss. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
